So, if you didn’t know, it was Christmas yesterday! How was everyone’s? How did everyone celebrate the day and what was on the menu? I love hearing about all the different traditions and ways that people celebrate the best day of the year!
We are taking a quick break from recipes today so that I can share a little bit of me and the hubs’ first married Christmas together! It was also both of our first Christmas’ without seeing family, so it was a little bitter-sweet. However, we made the most of it and still had a great day!
On Christmas Eve, I let Mr.FFF into the kitchen with me (usually it’s my domain) and we made a bunch of appetizers together (watch for those comin’ up!) and then ate them for dinner while we watched “The Great Christmas Light Fight.” Have you guys seen that show? It’s a competition between these people who go crazy decorating their house….it was absolutely bananas and a half. After we chowed down, we went driving through the streets and looked at Christmas lights. It was also our puppy, Scruffies, first birthday. We gave her a Christmas sweater and by, doing so, made her hate her birthday forever. Whoops.
Christmas day was started by a breakfast at Ihop. I know, you are judging the food blogger for not making breakfast. BUT, we had their seasonal white chocolate chip raspberry pancakes with cream cheese icing. You understand now. Ah-may-zing. The rest of our day was very low-key. We skyped with my parents/side of the family and opened gifts in the morning. The rest of the afternoon was spent watching Christmas movies, decorating a gingerbread house, and having a few adult beverages. A couple of our friends came over in the evening to hang out and that was about it! In true Christmas fashion our dinner consisted of homemade Chex mix, cookies, chocolate and a little bit of vodka.
Now, onto the pictures! And, please tell me how ya’lls day was! 🙂
A rare look at me in my “office” making Christmas Eve appies.
I learned that my husband gets VERY into slicing cucumbers.
Christmas morning IHOP…those pancakes. GAH.
Our tiny little tree. Also, when you live far away from your family, cardboard boxes are the new wrapping paper.
The reason she will hate her birthday forever.
My In-laws gave us a super cute, beachy “Our first Christmas” ornament. Aw.
So there’s this tradition in my family. It’s called “Taylor has to open all gifts with her teeth.” Don’t ask.
The hubs was so nervous I would hate this…it was adorable actually. And, it was perfect. Hubby win.
Just ’cause I think he is adorable.
Out of all the cool, techy stuff I gave him this was what he picked as his favorite gift.
The best thing we got. My parental units had a wedding photo of ours printed on canvas and stretched across a frame. Ah-may-zing.
That’s all folks! I hope you had the Merriest of Christmas’!
P.s Stay tuned for the start of “Appetizer Week” tomorrow! I guess week + 1 day, since tomorrow is the end of the week, and it will continue into next week. Whatever. I know ya’ll will need some treats for those NYE parties coming up. I got ya covered.
