Yo yo yo homeslice peeps!
I couldn’t decide if I want to call you “homeslices” or “peeps” SO the hybrid was born. Do you like it? Good. Me too.
You know what I also like? This whole “healthy meal plan series” that I’ve been nattering at your for the last 3 weeks and today it is the LAST post in the 4-week series. Sad day right?
BUT, hopefully not THAT sad because you learned some super totally awesome and helpful tips! Here are the 3 things we talked about:
- We talked about my journey with eating real, whole foods, and why YOU need to eat them.
- We talked about why making a healthy meal plan will actually SAVE you cash-ola. Which means a new pair of shoes?
Don’t tell your husband I said that, k thanks.
- And then, last week, I told you my top 3 tips to use your pinning obsession to help make your new adventure into meal plan land SUPER successful and E-Z-P-Z.
Which is kind of what we’re going to continue talking about today. Not about Pinterest, but more ways to make meal-planning-maven-status SO much easier to reach! I hope that, by the end of this post (and series!) that you will be LOCKED AND LOADED with CRAZY-awesome tips, tricks and ways to get this baby rockin!
And, you’ll be saving money, eating healthy, AND feeling, liiike, REALLY good and energized while you do. No coffee required.
But, you can still drink coffee ‘cause it’s YUM.
Okay, here are my top 3 strategies that are going to make your meal planning journey ridiculously easy:
- Organize your master grocery list according to department.
So, when you’re going through ALL your recipes and making the master grocery list that we talked about a few weeks ago, put things like dairy, meat, veggies etc. together. Title each category in your master list accordingly so you know that is the area of the grocery store you need to go to. I used to just write down everything, and not organize my grocery list….aaand then I ended up going back and forth to the same departments over and over again. This will make your shopping SO much quicker!
- Themed nights.
Did someone say “taco Tuesday?” ARRIBA! But, seriously, if the idea of looking through a zillion dinner recipes on your Pinterest board seems TOTALLY daunting, start by setting each night of the week to a different theme. You could have pasta Monday, Taco Tuesday, slow cooker Wednesday…whatever works for YOU! This narrows down the kinds of recipes that you need to look for and can streamline the process. Additionally, if your kids are old enough, it can be a fun way to get them involved by looking for a recipe that they want to try on a certain theme night!
- Use a grocery list app during the week.
I don’t recommend using a grocery list app to create your master list, as it’s annoying to have to go back into your phone every 4 seconds when you’re at the store. BUT, I use one during the week when I run out of some sort of staple items (like olive oil, salt etc.) that I know are going to be in many of the recipes I will be planning for the next week. Then, when it comes to making your master list, take a quick look at your list to make sure there isn’t anything that you THINK you have, but you actually need to buy. This will keep you super prepared for the week ahead!
I really like “couple” because your significant other can download it, and it syncs up. They can then add things to the list, and you can see it on your phone. PLUS, it has other cute features like “thumb kissing.” You should try it.
Well, that concludes this 4-week series! I hope you’re ready to download the FREE, printable meal planning calendar below, and become a meal planning BOSS!
