It’s the first “swap Saturday!”
If you remember, a few weeks back I told you about BeautyCounter. BeautyCounter makes safe, non-toxic skincare and makeup products that I LOVE.
I’ve been testing them out to see if I feel comfortable recommending them to you from both a consumer and makeup artist stand point and, you guys, I CAN.
They feel great. Look great. Are high quality…AND the products aren’t harming your skin!
One of my FAVORITE products is their Touchup Skin Concealer Pen…so, that’s what we are going to compare to my OLD concealer today. Here’s a video comparing the two, and then more details about each product below:
Old concealer:
Revlon PhotoReady Concealer
Ranking on the Environmental Working Group “Think Dirty” App:
8/10 (10 is the most dangerous)
Why it got that ranking:
The major reason why this concealer is ranked an 8 is for carcinogenicity. Which means it can CAUSE CANCER YOU GUYS.
Annnnd, I’ve been putting that all under my eyes – the most sensitive, thinnest skin! AHHH.
The most harmful ingredient in this concealer is Octinoxate. This has been links to breast cancer as well as a host of other issues – an endocrine disruptor that effects thyroid and estrogen activity, and it can affect brain and metabolism development.
I KNOW. EEP.
What I am using now:
BeautyCounter Touchup Skin Concealer Pen
Ranking on the Environmental Working Group App:
ALL BeautyCounter products rank 3 or less.
Why it got its ranking:
Made of safe, non-toxic ingredients such as water and knotgrass extract.
BeautyCounter has a “Never List” which states 1500 questionable or harmful ingredients, used in MANY products, that they will NEVER use. This included 1400 chemicals banned to be used in personal care products in Europe, as well as ingredients that BeautyCounter themselves find questionable. Learn more about their ingredient selection process HERE.
Why I love it:
I LOVE the applicator for this concealer. I’ve never used a concealer with a brush, and it makes it very easy to apply in very specific areas. The twist at the bottom also allows you to be really precise with JUST how much concealer you need. PLUS, it covers my dark under-eye circles SO SO WELL and, as you can see in the video, you need SO MUCH less of it than the other “bad” stuff! So much better than the cancer-causing concealer that I was using before!
I hope you’re at least starting to think about what you put ON your body as much as what you put IN IT. It’s so important, and something I am really starting to learn!
