A quick video that shows you how to make oat flour in only 1 minute…and you only need one ingredient! Easy, gluten free and great for everyday use!
Hiya guys!
I’ve got a super fun…and super SHORT…video for you today: How to make oat flour from oatmeal!
I use oat flour in a good chunk of recipes, and I figured some of you probably didn’t even know to wonder how do you make oat flour because you didn’t even know that you can MAKE it YOURSELF in only 1 MINUTE!
RIGHT?! 1 Minute. One of them.
I know are all really busy people, but I am pretty sure that we all have one minute of our lives to spare!
And I BET you already have everything you need to do it RIGHT NOW. *Ahem* You just need oats. You also need a high powered blender such as a Vitamix or Blendtec. I have not tried doing this in a food processor or anything like that, so I can’t really speak to how that would work. I would ASSUME that it would work, but you may need to promote the oats longer than 1 minute to get them really broken down.
How To Make Oat Flour
The easiest way to make your own oat flour in 1 minute!
Materials
- High powered blender
Instructions
- Get your hands on some rolled, old-fashioned oats. You can use regular OR gluten free oats, depending on your dietary needs.
- Put the oats in a high-powered blender. As mentioned above, you'll need a Vitamix or Blendtec MOST LIKELY.
- Put on the lid, crank the power up to high and wait for 1 minute or until the oats are powdery and fine, similar to how all purpose flour looks, but just a little bit more grainy! Since oats are a whole grain, the flour will look more like whole wheat
- DONE
ANYWAY. If you’re a visual person and want to actually SEE how to make it, then watch this video and be amazed at how EZ making oat flour is! Then, think about all kinds of delicious things that you could create using this awesome flour!
I absolutely love it for almost all kinds of baking – muffins, breads, even cakes like gluten free coffee cake. It doesn’t work well to sub it for all purpose flour, as discussed above, it’s not fine enough and won’t give you that really nice light texture. I’ve found that it works best to replace whole wheat flour.
You also can’t use it to replace nut flours like coconut or almond flour as they are completely different! Wanted to warn you before you try and have an epic SAD FAIL!
Now, go and try some recipes and let me know what you think!
