I didn’t go to school for food. I am actually a trained, and certified, professional makeup artist. I can even do Special FX makeup!
But, I always LOVED wearing makeup, and doing makeup, but I NEVER once really thought about what is IN the makeup that I was spreading all over my face EACH AND EVERY DAY. You think I would, especially since your skin is your biggest organ.
I was too busy worried about what I was putting IN my body, and not on it.
I was then introduced to Beauty Counter, and everything changed.
I am SO excited to find a cosmetics company that has true integrity with the ingredients in their products. Beauty Counter use non-toxic ingredients and have a “never list” of ingredients that they will never use in their products.
Beauty Counter Offers ingredients that’s are sourced with a higher level of safety in mind and offers full ingredient disclosure! No secrets! What you see is what you get – and it looks and feels great!
As a professionally trained make-up artist, after trying all these products, I can HANDS-DOWN say that they ROCK. They feel great, they look SO great and they go on smoothly, evenly and so beautifully.
These are the products I’ve personally tried, and use on a regular basis. I absolutely LOVE these products and can recommned them from both a health standpoint and quality standpoint as a makeup artist.
I will be updating this list as I try more products. Please do NOT hesitate to ask if you have any questions about these products! I am here to help you make the transition to safer beauty!
If you want your makeup to look great, it’s important to start with your best skin!
This mask purifies pores and helps to clarify the skin, removes excess oils, refines and smooths skin and improves skin clarity and tone! I <3 how my skin looks after I use it!
Think of foundation as the canvas for your makeup – it truly is what makes your makeup look even and perfect. This is SO light and I don’t even feel like I am wearing foundation.
Instead of a bunch of weird chemicals, it uses Sodium Hyaluronate which supports the skin’s water retention and nutrient absorption, promotes smoother looking skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
I LOVE THIS CONCEALER. There is only SO much that foundation can do, and some areas just need a little bit of love. This concealer even covers as well as all the super expensive, hard to find Special FX makeup that I worked with in makeup school and it blends really well!
Instead of using something like BHT which causes cancer and hormone disruption, this concealer uses Knotgrass extract which helps to preserve skin elasticity; reduces the signs of photo-aging and fine lines.
What I LOVE about this duo is that you get a darker color to act as a counter, and a lighter color to act as the actual blush. I think this color looks great on almost ever skin color and it goes on SO smooth and evenly.
It uses Porcelain Flower Extract that comes from Thailand. In traditional medicine it has been known to have anti-inf lammatory effects, and has been used to treat skin irritations or wounds. The extract has antibacterial, soothing and moisturizing properties.
Makeup starts with great skin right? This cleanser removes ALL my makeup and leaves my face feeling SOFT and moist after. Not of that dryness that comes from cheap cleansers. It also has a really yummy “orangey” smell that I love!
The cleanser contains skin-toning witch hazel, plus hydrating coconut oil and soothing aloe!
Like I said above, my face felt great after using the cleanser. BUT, it’s still SUPER important to put cream on after. The one I used to use, never REALLY felt like it was super moisturizing, but I just went with it.
I now use THIS cream day AND night, and my skin feels SO soft and not dry anymore! Plus, the formula is really lightweight, so your face isn’t left feeling all greasy after you put it on. It’s unscented and contains a mix of organic coconut oil, safflower oil, and aloe to provide nourishing hydration, plus antioxidant-rich acai to protect against dry skin.
I need to be honest. This is NOT my first choice of mascara ONLY because I am obsessed with my eyelashes and I kinda like them to look a little bit un-natural (weird.)
I tried this mascara and, if you like long natural looking eyelashes, it is SO for you. If that was my “look” I would hands down be wearing this every day, so I wanted to make sure I included it.
It also has organic oils and shea butter, it conditions lashes while you wear it!
My signature “look” uses a frosty light colored eye shadow ALL over my eyelid, and in the corners of my inner-eye. I’ve been doing my eye make up this way FOREVER.
Your eyes are your thinnest skin, so non-toxic is important. The “glitz” color TOTALLY rivals the color I’ve been using for years – and I LOVE how smoothly it goes on, and it stays put all day – even at the gym!
These contain Porcelain Flower Extract, a Thai bloom known for its antioxidant benefits, to help moisturize the delicate skin around the eyes!
As I said in the eye shadow, my signature “look” uses eye shadow in the inner corners of my eye. I use the precision brush to get it there.
This brush is really sturdy but has really soft bristles – which is perfect for getting into those delicate corners of your eyes! Or, really, anywhere on the sensitive skin on your eyes!
More than 1500 Ingredients Banned
Did you know that, over the past two decades, the European Union has banned more than 1,300 chemicals in the product formulas of personal care products and restricted the levels of over 250 more in such products. The United States has only partially banned 30 to date.
Beauty Counter has banned the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals through their “Never List”—all while ensuring our products perform and that they’re as indulgent as any other luxe shampoo, lipstick, or oil in the market.
Rigorous Ingredient Screening Process
The "Never list"
Beautycounter has committed to a health and safety standard that goes well beyond what is legally required in the United States. The Never List™ is made up of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals that they never use as ingredients in our products. This includes the over 1,400 chemicals banned or restricted in personal care products by the European Union, plus additional chemicals screened by Beautycounter and found to be of concern.
While all of their ingredients are sourced with a higher standard of safety and quality in mind, it is well recognized — and accepted by regulatory authorities around the world — that incidental, trace levels of a chemical may inadvertently be introduced in a cosmetic product due to the complexities of the supply chain and manufacturing process. At Beautycounter, thtey work incredibly hard to minimize — but unfortunately, can’t eliminate — the potential that a product may contain trace levels of a chemical from The Never List™.
Low Ranking with Environmental Working Group
Have you used the EWG Healthy Living App? This is what told me I needed to make the change to safer skin care. It will tell you all the harmful chemicals in your makeup/skin care, and give it a safety rating. ALL of my old products ranked 5/5!
Beauty Counter products all rank 0-2 with The Environmental Working Group!
Quality Comparable to Un-Natural Counterparts
As a profesionnal makeup artist, I have used A LOT of products and brands out there. From drug store brands to top-of-line-only-used-in-movies makeup brands, I’ve tried them ALL! Beauty Counter compares to these products, if not exceeds some of them, and it’s natural and non toxic!
I LOVE Beauty Counter. All of the products that I’ve listed here are the ones I’ve tried, use on a regular basis, and truly recommend from a safety and quality standpoint.
However, as a makeup artist, I want to be transparent with you. There are still some of my older products that I am loyal too, so I do use a mix of Beauty Counter products as well as those. Just like I am transparent with you about food choices, I want to be totally honest about Beauty Counter. Which means, I want to tell you that I use other products as well. I will also share if I try any Beauty Counter products that I don’t like!
I want to help you make the transition into safer, non-toxic skin care and cosmetics. SO, if you have ANY questions about specific Beauty Counter products, or Beauty Counter in general, PLEASE email me at email@example.com and I will answer them as best as I can.
If you do purchase any products through the links on this page, please consider me your personal Beauty Counter consultant! That means I am here to help with any questions or concerns you might have! <3
